We’re in the news!

IMG_5917
We never dreamed that ultimate might be on the front page of the Montreal Gazette! Team Canada Women’s Masters and captain Alison Fischer feature prominently in the article (published in the Saturday paper on April 23, 2016), which discusses all facets of ultimate in Montreal, from league to competitive to professional. About a month ago, journalist T’Cha Dunlevy and a photographer came to one of our four-hour practice. They took plenty of video of our team for their online feature. Go read it it today!

We will be playing a women’s showcase game before the home opener for the Montreal Royal on May 1, 2016. Our showcase game will start at 12 pm and features all of Team Canada Women’s Masters, with guests from the Team Canada Women’s team and the Team Canada junior women’s team. This will be the only opportunity to catch us live before we head off to London for the World Ultimate & Guts Championships!

AUM

To encourage the practice and development of recreational and competitive Ultimate in the Montreal metropolitan area, by promoting and upholding the Spirit of the Game.

Amazing new sponsor!

Going to the World Championships, especially worlds in one of the most expensive cities in the world, is costly. For the most part, players cover the costs for flights, hotels, tournament fees, accommodations, food, coaches, training, field rentals and more. Sometimes, however, we are lucky enough to find an amazing sponsor who is willing to donate money to help us afford to play the sport we love. We would like to give a big shout out to La Famille Parenteau for donating $1000 towards to Team Canada! Merci mille fois!

Tryouts are this weekend!

Tryouts for Team Canada women’s masters will be held this weekend (November 28 and 29, 2015) in Montreal. We received over 100 applications and after many hours of discussions, watching footage and garnering feedback, we invited 55 players to attend tryouts. The selection committee has been working hard organizing things behind the scenes in preparation for this weekend. We can’t wait to see the amazing talent that presents itself on Saturday morning.

With only a day left before players take the turf, we have some wise words from Guylaine Girard, a former Vintage captain who has now taken on the role of head coach of the Montreal Royal. Guylaine, who has a wealth of experience and expertise in the field of mental training, offers these four tips:

  • know and value your strengths
  • set objectives that you can focus on during tryouts
  • remember that you love ultimate and enjoy playing
  • stay in the moment

If you want to keep tabs on tryouts, you can check out our twitter, instagram or fb feeds. We’re aiming to periscope some of tryouts too!
